You and Your Forces; or, The Constitution of Man is Elizabeth Towne’s 1923 study of the individual mind, personal power, and humanity’s relationship to the First Cause underlying existence.

Towne asks the reader to set aside inherited assumptions and borrowed authorities long enough to examine ideas directly through reason, attention, and practical experience. Throughout the work, Towne considers the language of Principle, Law, Spirit, matter, Divinity, and God as different attempts to approach the same originating power. The result is a concise expression of early twentieth-century New Thought concerned with self-development, mental discipline, spiritual independence, and the purposeful use of one’s own forces.
