Published in 1917, The Way: A Text Book for the Student of Rosicrucian Philosophy by Freeman B. Dowd was prepared for members of the educational department of the Rose Cross Order.

The manuscript was written near the end of Dowd’s life and issued by order of the organization. Its chapters move through the Magi, nature, existence, the laws of life, God and spirit, the savior, the ego, becoming, and the meaning of “I Am.”

The book presents Rosicrucian philosophy as a disciplined path of spiritual understanding rather than a collection of isolated occult doctrines. It is also a valuable artifact of the history and internal teaching culture of an American Rose Cross body founded in the nineteenth century.
