Manly P. Hall’s Manuscript Series
This edition presents The Occult Christ by Manly P. Hall, originally issued in 1924 as Number Forty-One of his early Manuscript Series.
In this work, Hall examines the figure of Christ through the symbolic, mystical, and initiatory traditions of esoteric Christianity. Rather than limiting the subject to historical, literal, or sectarian interpretation, he approaches the Christ life as a universal pattern of spiritual awakening and inner transformation.
Hall considers the events and symbols associated with Christ as expressions of a process that must ultimately take place within the individual. Birth, temptation, sacrifice, death, resurrection, and illumination become stages in the development of consciousness and the gradual awakening of the divine principle within humanity.
From this perspective, the “occult Christ” represents the concealed spiritual meaning beneath the outward forms of doctrine and ceremony. The text invites the reader to look beyond theological division toward the initiatory dimensions of Christian symbolism, the mystery of spiritual rebirth, and the possibility of a transformed relationship between the human and the divine.
