Written as a concise introduction to the principles and practice of reading the hand, it examines the forms of the hand and fingers, the mounts of the palm, and the principal lines traditionally associated with character, temperament, aptitude, fortune, and destiny.

Its combination of practical instruction, period diagrams, and symbolic hand markings makes it an especially attractive record of nineteenth-century popular occultism and the development of modern palmistry.
