Manly P. Hall’s Manuscript Series
This edition presents The God of the Atoms by Manly P. Hall, originally issued in 1924 as Number Thirty-Eight of his early Manuscript Series.
In this work, Hall explores the meeting point of matter, energy, consciousness, and divine intelligence. The atom is considered not merely as a mechanical unit of physical substance, but as a symbol through which science and metaphysics may reflect upon order, life, and the hidden principles operating throughout nature.
Hall approaches the discoveries of modern science as part of a larger philosophical inquiry. The deeper humanity penetrates into the structure of matter, the more mysterious matter becomes. Beneath the visible world lies a realm of forces, relationships, and organizing principles that challenges any purely material explanation of existence.
Through this perspective, the atom becomes a miniature universe—an emblem of motion, proportion, intelligence, and unseen causation. Hall uses the scientific imagination of his period to encourage a renewed sense of wonder toward the natural world and to suggest that the apparent division between physical science and spiritual philosophy may not be absolute.
