This edition presents Super Faculties and Their Culture, a special-class manuscript by Manly P. Hall, originally issued in 1924 as Number Forty-Three of his early Manuscript Series.

In this work, Hall examines the latent faculties of perception, intuition, concentration, and consciousness that remain largely undeveloped within the ordinary individual. Rather than treating unusual abilities as curiosities, supernatural accomplishments, or instruments of personal power, he places their cultivation within a disciplined philosophical and ethical framework.

Hall argues that the awakening of higher faculties requires patience, balance, self-knowledge, and deliberate control of the mental and emotional nature. Genuine development is presented not as the pursuit of sensation or extraordinary display, but as the gradual refinement of consciousness and the responsible use of capacities already present within the human being.

The manuscript reflects Hall’s broader conviction that spiritual or psychological development must be accompanied by maturity of character. Greater perception without wisdom, discipline, or ethical purpose may produce imbalance rather than illumination. The cultivation of the “super faculties” therefore becomes inseparable from the cultivation of the whole person.
