Heads and Faces, and How to Study Them is Nelson Sizer and Henry S. Drayton’s extensively illustrated nineteenth-century manual of phrenology and physiognomy. Written for a general readership, it presents the period belief that character, temperament, aptitude, and disposition could be interpreted through the proportions and expressions of the head and face.

Its numerous profile studies, comparative illustrations, and discussions of facial form make it a visually remarkable document of Victorian character-reading and the popular history of mental science.

This Holographic Pagan Press edition has been newly restored and prepared for modern readers. The original cover arrangement has been preserved and reproduced in black and warm flesh tones on emerald-green card stock, presented in a handmade black tape-bound format.
