“By thought, the thing you want is brought to you; by action you receive it.” ― Wallace D. Wattles
"Books, not unlike people, are multi-dimensional portals into other worlds — realms beyond the visual simulation that we co-exist within. To open a book is to pierce the dark veil of 3rd dimensional limitative living and embark towards the ever-present light of immortality." ― C.K. Lee
"Follow the soul and freedom shall come quickly." ― C.D. Larson
"To live in the world without becoming aware of the meaning of the world is like wandering about in a great library without touching the books." ― Manly P. Hall
“Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become.” ― James Allen
“Nothing is too good to be true. Nothing is too wonderful to happen. Nothing is too good to last.” ― Florence Scovel Shinn
"The consideration of man's body has not changed to meet the new conditions of this artificial environment that has replaced his natural one. The result is that of perceptual discord between man and his environment. The effect of this discord is a general deterioration of man's body, the symptoms of which are termed disease." ― Hilton Hotema
Thought is energy, and energy is power. ― Charles F. Haanel
“Our highest endeavor must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives. The need for imagination... a sense of truth... and a feeling of responsibility... these three forces are the very nerve of education.” ― Rudolf Steiner
Charles F. Haanel (1866–1949) was a St. Louis businessman and New Thought author best remembered for The Master Key System, a structured course in concentration, mental discipline, causation, and what Haanel described as the creative relation between individual thought and Universal Mind.
Haanel’s importance lies partly in the architecture of his teaching. Rather than offering disconnected maxims, The Master Key System was organized as a progressive sequence of lessons and exercises. Its reader was expected to practice concentration, cultivate mental control, and move step by step from theory toward application.
His later books broadened that program. Mental Chemistry explores the interaction of thought, character, health, and circumstance; The New Psychology develops a larger synthesis of psychology, metaphysics, science, and religion; A Book About You ventures into astrology, energy, and personal development; and The Amazing Secrets of the Yogi represents the unusually eclectic final phase of his publishing career.
Where to Begin
Begin with The Master Key System for Haanel’s most systematic statement of mental discipline and creative causation. Follow it with Mental Chemistry for a more compact treatment of thought and consequence, then The New Psychology for the broader philosophical system behind the method.
